LANGUAGES DEPARTMENT AIMS
The Languages Department, protected under San Francisco Xavier University mission educates professionals with a considerable profile, achieving a solid knowledge system of languages studied and developing abilities which give them an excellent performance by working in different areas. The Languages Professional is going to carry out showing an entire, innovative, ethics, moral personality that contributes in the society.
The language professional should develop attitudes of responsibility for professional practice with independence and creativity in solving concrete troubles within the scope of his ability and professional performance.
The language professional should also achieve abilities of high technique and artistic quality, looking for beauty and perfection in the professional work to satisfy his or her personal motivation.

Having vocation for learning languages and leaning towards the social sciences area.

- Teaching of German, French, English and Quechua languages.
- Written and direct translation of German, French, English and Quechua languages.

The Bachelor in Languages or Higher Technician will be able to:
- To carry out the teaching - learning process of foreign and native languages teaching with a high level of methodological and pedagogical professionalism in the place where it is worked.
- To apply methods and procedures in an effective and high quality manner into the foreign and native languages teaching.
- To validate and design programs of study of the language that is taught.
- To apply consistently basic principles and postulates of the Methodology in foreign and native languages teaching.
- To apply suitably the general laws and principles of Pedagogy and General Didactics in the teaching learning process of foreign and mother tongue languages. Literacy tutor in rural area.
- To give theory-practical elements that allow analyzing critically the work performed as a premise of his or her professional and human improvement.
- To develop intellectual and practice abilities allowing practising his or her work in linguistics research.
- To apply the knowledge of different methods and techniques from linguistics research.
- To use the scientific research in the linguistics field of the foreign and mother tongue languages that has been studied. To translate texts from Spanish Language into the acquired foreign language.
The Higher Technician (4 years) is going to study two languages, getting a middle level competence in the four skills: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking and he or she will be qualified for teaching.
The Bachelor in Languages (5 years) will perform the duties of planning, carrying out and evaluation of the learning - teaching process of languages in all levels belonging to the education system. At the same time, he or she will perform functions as a translator from oral or written language into Spanish; facilitating the public and international relations in national or foreign organizations. He or she will be able to carry out researches in the linguistics field identifying and giving solutions to problems found.
